You have to look at this - Beach Metal Detecting with Amazing results!

A short but interesting post, as I came across this video clip and being a metal detectorist who spends a lot of time metal detecting on the beach, I could not help but highlight this great video clip. Beach metal detecting at it's best with some amazing gold and silver coming of the beach. I wish I could have just one day like these guys have. Look out for the gold chain bit as it seems to go on forever . . . .enjoy!

Bounty Hunter Junior Metal Detector, great kids metal detector

Bounty Hunter Junior Metal Detector

If metal detecting is your hobby and you have children it goes without saying that your children will probably want to walk in you foot steps and try metal detecting for themselves. This is not a bad thing and ir's a great hobby to be involved in from an early age.  With this in mind, what metal detector would you buy for them. An expensive model might be a waste of money if metal detecting turns out is not for them, so which would it be? One such possible metal detector for children is the Bounty Hunter Junior Metal Detector.

Dartmouth Farthing one of my metal detector finds

The Dartmouth farthing hammered coin

As a metal detectorist you never know what may come out of the ground. In some areas where you have done your research you find little or nothing. On others areas where you expect to find very little and you are chancing your arm a little, you end up finding something interesting.

The coin below is one such find that was out of the blue but none the less welcome. It is a Dartmouth Farthing of about 1640. This was found on a small field near the coast in Devon in England while metal detecting with another detectorist. It was the first time that I had metal detected on this particular field and found little else of note.
